COACHES TAKE

"Overall, that was our best performance against a good Queens team," said Head Coach Tom Rees. "We pushed the Royals and had the match alive right until the death with a tiebreak and two third sets being the difference."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Queens took the early advantage, winning the doubles point by grabbing all three victories. However, LR didn't give in easily as Queens won by scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3.

In singles action, Ally Garofoli earned the Bears lone point  with a dominant performance in fifth singles. Garofoli won 6-0, 6-0 for her sixth straight singles victory. In the first spot, Gemma Southwick played against one of the top players in the nation and pushed the No. 9 player in the region and No. 43 player in the nation to the brink. However, Yana Fleyer would eventually outlast Southwick 6-2, 7-6. Marta Escanero Funes and Emily Murchland pushed their opponents to a third set tiebreaker but eventually fell giving Queens their sixth win of the year.
