WISE, VA. – Lenoir-Rhyne dropped a second consecutive conference road game with a 35-28 set back at UVA Wise on Saturday. The Cavs led by as many as 18 in the second half but LR cut it to seven and recovered an onside kick with 1:52 to play but couldn't complete the comeback.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• For the second straight road game, the Bears took the first possession right down the field for an opening drive touchdown.
Dareke Young caught a 4-yard TD, his fourth touchdown catch in five quarters, to give the Bears an early lead.
• UVA Wise answered with back-to-back touchdowns to take a 14-7 advantage. The Cavs pass rush disrupted LR as they registered four first half sacks.
•
Chase Allbaugh connected on a 43-yard field goal to cut the Wise advantage to 14-10 but Wise would add another touchdown with 2:21 left in the first half and took a 21-10 into the break.
• UVA Wise took the first possession of the second half down the field and scored to extend the lead to 28-10.
• A
Dwayne McGee short TD run and another Allbaugh field goal made it 28-20 but Wise had another answer and drove 75 yards on 13 plays capped by a 3-yard touchdown run.
• LR made it interesting late with a
Kelin Parsons TD catch and Parsons converted the 2-point conversion to make it a seven point game.
• LR recovered the ensuing onside kick but would turn the ball over. The Bears would get the ball back with 30 seconds left in the game but couldn't drive the length of the field for the tying score.
• Dwayne McGee ran for 160 yards on 24 carries and broke a 31-yarder. McGee now has six 100-yard rushing games in eight career contests.
• Grayson Willingham went 34-for-49 for 282 yards and two touchdowns but had three interceptions.
• Deondre Lester erupted for 14 catches and 122 yards and became the first player to have at least 10 catches in a game since Nick Stutts did back in 2011.
• Defensively,
Preston Joseph had a career-high 13 tackles and
Eric Jackson recorded an interception.
• Lendon Redwin went 28-for-46 for 299 yards and a pair of touchdowns for UVA Wise and J'Quan Anderson had 14 carries for 51 yards and two touchdowns.
• Joel Burgess had 11 tackles and a pair of sacks for the Cavs and Markel Dailey snatched a pair of interceptions.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

Lester's 14 catches are the second-most in a single game in program history. The only player with more catches in a game was Terrance Steward who had 18 grabs for 266 yards against Mars Hill in 1986.
• Lenoir-Rhyne extended their streak of consecutive games with at least one sack to 47 in a row.
•
Allbaugh became the program's all-time leader in field goals made with 46 and is two extra points shy of setting the DII mark of most consecutive made extra points.
• UVA Wise had a balanced attack with 12 different players catching at least one pass and seven players with a rush attempt.
