Lenoir-Rhyne and Barton renew a rivalry that has been dormant since 1950 in the 2020-21 Lenoir-Rhyne Football home opener. Barton, who then competed as Atlantic Christian, has never beaten Lenoir-Rhyne with the Bears holding a 9-0 edge. In fact, Barton has scored just six points all-time against LR with the Bears shutting out Barton eight times.
The Bears haven't played at home since dropping an NCAA Quarterfinal Playoff game against West Florida and put a streak of 18 straight wins against South Atlantic Conference opponents on the line against Barton. The last loss against a SAC opponent came back on Nov. 11, 2017 when the Bears dropped a 24-20 contest at Catawba.
