HICKORY, N.C.-- L.J. McCoy scored 22 points and went 5-for-8 from long range to lead the Bears to a 9-point victory over Converse inside Shuford Arena on Saturday in non-conference action. The win improves the Bears home mark to 3-0 on the season.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- McCoy was 7-for-10 from the field and added a pair of assists in the victory.

Nas Tyson finished with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting and added four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Jalen Johnson came off the bench to pour in 15 points -- 13 in the first half -- and had a team-high six boards.
- Two big spurts were what LR needed to pull this one out. In the first half, LR used a 15-3 run to make a 21-18 lead extend to 36-21 in the final minutes of the first half. Converse cut it to 44-40 in the second half but a 18-3 stretch secured the win for LR.
- The Bears turned the ball over just eight times in the victory and hit 10 3-pointers.
- The trio of McCoy, Tyson and Johnson combined for 52 of LR's 67 points today.
- Converse shot 57.1 percent in the second half and held a 16-8 advantage on the glass in the final 20 minutes.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This was the first meeting all-time meeting between these two programs.
- The Bears are now 7-4 in the last two Novembers.
- This was the 538th all-time win for LR inside Shuford Arena.
- Jay Mitchell had 17 points for Converse in the losing effort with 12 of those coming in the second half.
- McCoy missed just one shot in the second half, going 5-of-6 from the field and 4-for-5 from deep.
