Late Run Sends Coker Past Lenoir-Rhyne

HARTSVILLE, S.C.-- Coker used a late 13-4 run to erase a 47-44 LR lead at the 5:03 mark to pull ahead 56-51 before a last second layup made the final 56-53 in South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Bears to .500 overall but five losses have been by single digits and the past two by a combined seven points.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- The Bears were cold from long range, shooting just 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) from the 3-point line and going 1-for-9 in the second half.
- L.J. McCoy led the Bears in scoring for the second straight game. McCoy finished with 12 points and went 3-of-6 from downtown. 
- Nas Tyson had 10 points and six boards and TJ Nesmith came off the bench to add 10 points and six rebounds. 
- Salle Wilson and Tim Steele each chipped in five points off the bench and Percy Fyle had four points and three boards in his second straight start.
- LR shot 34.6 percent from the field in the game and 33.3 percent in the second half. However, a free throw by Wilson put the Bears up 47-44 with 5:03 to go.
- After a pair of Coker free throws, Ian Blue hit a three to put the Cobras up 49-47, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. 
- Trailing 53-49, Tyson's driving basket with 29 seconds cut the lead to a pair but Coker would go 3-for-4 from the free throw line down the stretch to ice the win. 
- Tate Mulkey led Coker with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 
- Each of the past three matchups between LR and Coker have been decided by one possession. 
- The Bears are just 1-4 on the road this season. 
- LR held Coker to just 28 percent shooting from three, the fifth straight opponent to shoot under 29 percent from deep. 
- The Bears are allowing opponents to hit just 29.0 percent of their three-point attempts.
