No. 21 Bears Roll By Coker, 7-0

Hickory, N.C.-  Neve Duston scored a pair of goals in the first half, then LR scored five goals in the second half to roll by Coker 7-0 on Wednesday evening from Moretz Sports Athletic Campus. Elin Hansson scored her 11th goal of the season then Morakane Mokhothu and Anna Grace Sumner scored their first goal of the season while Tea Sabin concluded the scoring with her second goal of the season. The Bears will now have a ten day break before their final three games of the regular season.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Duston, who went scoreless in her first eight games, now has five goals in her last five games with two goals in the first half. 
  • After halftime, the Bears got on the board thanks to an own goal by the Cobras in the 51st minute. 
  • Elin Hansson scored her 11th goal in the 55th minute after Duston drove into the box and passed it to Hansson for the tap in goal.
  • Mokhothu got her first career goal after Hansson drove the end line and sent a pass to the front of goal. Mokhothu initially was blocked but got her own rebound for the goal. 
  • The Bears final two goals came less than two minutes apart as Sumner and Sabin gave the Bears the 7-0 win. 
  • Kristin Oliver got the clean sheet, stopping the only shot she faced.
  • LR tied a season high with 13 corner kicks but did not score off any of them. 
  • The Bears out shot the Cobras 25-4 on the night as Coker could only muster two shots each half. 
  • LR came into the game fifth in the nation in assists as the Bears added seven more helpers tonight led by a pair from Hansson and Ria Action's nation-leading 11th. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Today's win is the 12th straight win against Coker as the Bears are 13-1-1 all-time against the Cobras. 
  • The only loss to Coker was in the 1992 season when Coker defeated the Bears 3-2. 
  • Hansson entered play today 5th in total points in Division II with 25 and had four points tonight. 
  • Duston scored her 16th and 17th career goal.
  • Acton moved into a tie for 4th in program history with her 22nd career assist. Acton's 11 assists this season is already in the top 3 for a single season with 3 regular season games and the post season left. 
  • The Bears won 7-0 almost exactly a year ago when they topped Emory & Henry by that same score on Oct. 5 right here in Hickory.
UP NEXT:  A ten day breaks is on tap for the Bears as LR will not play again until October 21st when they host Newberry. The Wolves and Bears will kick off at 7:30 PM.
