CENTRAL, S.C. -- The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team ran out to a 40-18 lead at halftime and never looked back in a non-conference road win over Southern Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Bears end a five-game road swing to open the season with a 3-2 mark and will open up at home on Wednesday night.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Lenoir-Rhyne went 14-of-25 from the field in the first half, including a scorching 9-of-13 (69.2 pct.) from three-point range to storm out to a big lead.
- Defensively, the Bears held SWU to just 22.5 percent shooting from the field and 1-of-9 from long range in the opening 20 minutes.
- The Bears also dominated the glass in the first half, grabbing 27 rebounds to just 15 by the Warriors.
- SWU would get hotter in the second half, connecting on 53.3 percent from the field but it was too late.

Nas Tyson led LR with 20 points while
Tim Steele added 14 points and was a perfect 4-of-4 from long distance.

Chase Mebane had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds and
Tay Smith added nine points an dsix boards to go with three steals.
- Tyson was 8-of-12 from the floor in the win.
- For the game, LR was +10 (43-33) on the boards.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- LR is a perfect 3-0 all-time against Southern Wesleyan. The last trip to Central, S.C. resulted in a 93-87 overtime victory in 2019 on a clutch game-tying three pointer by Mason Hawks with five seconds sent it to OT.
- Four of the first five games this year have come against Conference Carolinas opponents. LR is 2-2 in those games.
- The LR vs. Conference Carolins trend will continue for one more game as the Bears host Mount Olive in the home opener.
- This is the latest home opener since 2012 when LR opened at home on Dec. 1.
