HICKORY, N.C. -- Playing against Mount Olive for the second time in a week, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Trojans. LR had defeated Mount Olive 4-3 in the City of Florence Invitational last week.
The Trojans earned the doubles point by winning in all three spots by scores of 6-1, 6-4 and 6-3.
In singles action, the Bears came back.
Evgeniya Pugina dominated in number one singles, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.
Alicia Wahlberg earned a marathon win in the number two spot by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Mount Olive took victories in the number 3, 4 and 5 spots to clinch the win but
Evelin Menyhart earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at number six.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Belmont Abbey.
