Johnson Catches Fire Late as Bears Protect Home Court

HICKORY, N.C. -- Jalen Johnson scored 18 points in the second half and went 7-of-11 from the field as the Bears defeated Anderson inside Shuford Arena on Wednesday evening. Johnson went off for 18 of the team's 34 second half points as the Bears earned a spilt with the Trojans.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Playing without reigning National Player of the Week T.J. Nesmith and sharpshooter L.J. McCoy, the Bears found a way to win thanks to Johnson. The PG finished with 20 points and eight rebounds to go with a trio of assists. 
- Tim Steele came off the bench for 12 points and three boards on 4-of-7 shhooting. 
- No other LR player was in double figures but four others scored six or more points as LR shot 43.1 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers.
- The LR defense held Anderson to just 38.1 percent shooting from the field and a 35.3 percent mark in the final 20 minutes. 
- Anderson hit just 26.9 percent from long range.
- The Bears went 9-for-11 from the charity stripe to ice the victory. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 
- The Bears were  whistled for the first eight fouls of the second half and nine of the first 10 went against LR.
- 10 different players saw action for LR
- Hamilton Campbell had eight points and a career-high nine boards in his 26 minutes.
- LR snapped a four-game losing streak against Anderson.

UP NEXT:  The Bears will return to action on Saturday when they host nationally-ranked Lincoln Memorial at 4 p.m.
