HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis Team was on the wrong side of a 4-3 result, as they drop their second-straight game to the hands of Lees-McRee.
Alicia Wahlberg, who filled in at the top spot of the order, went undefeated on the day with a 7-6, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles. The junior also pulled out a 6-4 result in No. 1 doubles alongside Lucy Whelan.
The graduate student, who moved up to the No. 2 line in singles, also took a straight set victory with a 6-4, 6-2 decision.
Although the top two players in the lineup had a successful day, the other Bears didn't have as much luck with the lineup adjustment.
After dropping the doubles point to begin the match, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles were all handed straight-set losing decisions.
Jessica Fuchs, who played at No. 5 singles, lost the first set, 2-6, and had a great come-from-behind victory with a 7-6, 1-0 decision in the second and third sets, respectively.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis squad will return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the YMCA of Catawba Valley in Hickory, N.C.
