HICKORY, NC - The Bears rebounded in a big way on Saturday, taking down Newberry 24-3 to keep the coveted Bishop's Trophy in Hickory.
Jalen Ferguson connected with
DeAree Rogers for two touchdowns, and the Bears defense held the Wolves to just 1-for-13 on third downs.
"It felt great to finally be back between the bricks," stated head coach
Doug Socha. "Obviously there are things we would like to be better, but coming away with the Bishops Cup trophy and keeping it here in Hickory was our goal. I'm proud of our fight today."

- Nic Cheeley opened the game with an interception on Newberry's third play of the game.
- The teams finished the first quarter tied 0-0.
- Jalen Ferguson connected with DeAree Rogers early in the second quarter for the first score of the game.
- Thanks to a 21-yard Jaelin Willis interception return, Jake Brown knocked in a field goal to give the Bears a 10-0 lead.
- The Bears went into the half leading 10-0.
- Following a Newberry field goal, Ferguson hit Rogers for a 48-yard touchdown pass to put LR up 17-3.
- Alex Boyd broke out for a 53-yard touchdown Lenoir-Rhyne's next possession, putting the Bears up 24-3.
- Neither team scored in the fourth quarter and the game finished at 24-3.
