Women's Soccer blanks Anderson for a 2-0 win

HICKORY, NC - Evan O'Leary and Brady Livingston each scored goals on Wednesday evening as the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team defeated the visiting Anderson Trojans 2-0. LR extended their unbeaten streak to eight games to open the 2024 season. The win also moves the Bears to 3-0-1 inside the SAC.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • After being named SAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, O'Leary stayed hot, scoring the game's first goal in the 41st minute to give the Bears a 1-0 lead at the break.  
  • Livingston added her first career goal in the 69th minute as LR extended the lead to 2-0, which ended up being the final. 
  • The Bears held the Trojans without a shot in the first half and out shot Anderson 32-6 in the game. 
  • Riley Miller made one save in goal for the Bears while Anderson's Macy McDufford made fourteen saves for the Trojans. 
  • Bears had 13 corners kick, their third most of the season. 
  • This was the second straight shutout for the Bears and their third of the season. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Bears move to 6-0-1 in the last seven games against Anderson. 
  • O'Leary's goal is her 20th goal of her career and the first of her season.
  • Carola Busquets nabbed her first assist of the season on Livingston's goal.
  • O'Leary has now notched at least one point in six straight games.
  • LR moved their home unbeaten streak to 21 games, going 17-0-4 in their last 21 games inside Moretz Sports Athletic Complex. 
  • Bears moved inside the top ten in this week's top 25 poll, coming in at No. 9 in the rankings. 
UP NEXT: The Bears will head to Newberry, South Carolina, on Saturday afternoon to take on the Wolves.  Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
