Men's Basketball comes up just short at nationally ranked Carson Newman

JOHNSON CITY, TN - Facing an experienced Carson-Newman team who already has five wins under their belt this season, the Bears fell 105-101 in a high scoring battle. Ziare Wells was a big spark off the bench, scoring 28 points on an efficient 8-17 from the field and 4-8 from three. 

This was Carson-Newman's closest game since their season opening loss against Lake Superior State, as they had won four straight by an average of 16.5 points.

  • Lenoir-Rhyne went up 7-0 early thanks to five points from Hantz Louis-Jeune and a layup from Conrad Luczynski. 
  • The Eagles took their first lead of the game on a three with 14:19 remaining in the opening half.
  • Playing at a frantic pace, the game saw six lead changes in the opening half.
  • LR took a 45-44 lead heading into the locker room.
  • A three from Ziare Wells put Lenoir-Rhyne up 56-49 just three minutes into the second half.
