Brent Owen gets first win in 89-66 defeat of Clayton State

MORROW, GA - Head Coach Brent Owen and the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball team left no doubt in their game against Clayton State on Saturday, taking down the host Lakers by a final score of 89-66. This marks the first win for Coach Owen at Lenoir-Rhyne.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • The Bears jumped out to an 11-4 lead, capped off by a Julian Dozier layup.
  • Following a few buckets from the Lakers, a Sam Martin dunk sparked a 12-2 run, pushing LR's advantage to 23-9 midway through the opening half.
  • Tay Smith hit a three to push Lenior-Rhyne's lead to 38-19 with 5:36 left in the half.
  • The Bears went into the break with a 50-39 advantage.
  • Up 56-45, a Ziare Wells dunk ignited a 15-3 run that pushed LR's advantage to 71-48.
  • The visitors cruised to the finish, leading by as many as 27 late in the second half.
