MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis Team began its competitive spring slate by posting a 6-1 victory over Mount Olive.

Starting in doubles, Dawson Clifford and Alexa Allison handled the No. 3 doubles line by cruising to a 6-2 result. Shortly after that match, the Bears secured the doubles point after Nellie Wahlberg and Alicia Wahlberg won the No. 2 doubles line with a 6-4 outcome.

In addition to helping the Bears get the first point of the match, Nellie Wahlberg earned the first singles victory of the contest with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Although the duo of Runa Muderrisoglu and Claudia Orsini could not pull out their doubles match, the two did find success in singles.

Muderrisoglu, who competed at the No. 1 singles line, powered through a tight first set to take a straight-set victory by the final count of 7-5, 6-1.

For Orsini, the sophomore was a part of one of the most competitive matches of the day at the No. 2 singles line. After taking the opening set, 6-4, Orsini prevailed in a second-set tiebreaker to also clinch a straight-set victory; 6-4, 7-6 (6).

Although Orsini's victory clinched the match for the Bears, Alicia Wahlberg and Alexa Allison both added singles victories to the outcome.

Alicia Wahlberg, who played at No. 4 singles, completed a straight-set victory by defeating Victoria Valle, 6-2, 6-4. Meanwhile, for Allison, the freshman posted a confident 6-3, 6-1 line at No. 5 singles.
