Bears continue to roll with 28-point victory over Limestone

HICKORY, NC - The No. 18 Bears continue to roll as they took down Limestone 90-62 in a rocking Shuford Arena on Wednesday night. This marks the Bear's second win by 25+ points, as they took down Emory & Henry 103-67 on Saturday.

Leading the way in this one was Ziare Wells, who finished with 22 points on 9-14 from the field. Conrad Luczynski was a monster on the glass, hauling in a career high 15 rebounds to go along with his 11 points.

STORY OF THE GAME
  • A Tay Smith dunk fueled a quick 7-0 run to start the game for the Bears.
  • Limestone kept it close early, as an Isayah Owens three cut the LR lead to 12-11 five minutes in.
  • A Ziare Wells three capped off a quick 8-0 run from the Bears to extend the lead back to 20-11.
  • The lead reached double-figures thanks to a Shem Sawy jumper with 7:54 left in the opening half.
  • A 9-2 run to close the half gave LR a comfortable 51-31 lead at the break.
  • Sam Martin opened the second half with a dunk to ignite the crowd. 
  • The Bear lead never got below 19 in the second half as they cruised to their third straight win. 
STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Ziare Wells (22), Junior Hodnett (15), and Conrad Luczynski (11) all scored in double-figures for the Bears. 
  • Lucznyski also had three blocks to go along with his 11 point and 15 rebounds. 
  • The Bears won the rebounding battle 47-39. 
  • Lenoir-Rhyne shot 31-64 (48.4%) from the field and 10-21 (47.6%) from three. 
  • Limestone was held to just 20-62 (32.3%) from the field and 12-34 (35.3%) from three.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Luczynski now has three consecutive double-doubles and four total on the season. 
  • This was Wells' seventh 20-point game of the season.
  • Junior Hodnett now leads the team with 31 threes on the year.
  • This is Lenoir-Rhyne's best start since they opened at 20-3 during the 2007-08 season.
  • The Bears have been ranked for four consecutive weeks, tied for their second longest streak in the history of the program.
UP NEXT: The Bears are set to hit the road on Saturday when they travel to Greeneville, Tennessee, to take on Tusculum. The Bears and Pioneers have played once this season, with LR winning 95-75 in Shuford Arena. Tusculum fell 86-78 in overtime at UVA Wise earlier tonight and sit at 4-14 (4-10 SAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
