HICKORY, N.C. - After his record breaking season, return specialist
Tye Roberson has been named an AFCA First Team All-American. He is one of four All-Americans from the South Atlantic Conference.
Roberson becomes the 97th All-American in program history and the first AFCA First Teamer since offensive lineman Joe Ray in 2015. He joins
DeAree Rogers, Kyle Dugger, and Michael Green as the only Lenoir-Rhyne return specialists to be named to an All-American team.Â
The Laurens, South Carolina, native set a new program record with an average of 41.9 yards per kick return this season. That average led NCAA DII and was second amongst all NCAA divisions. He was one of just two NCAA DII athletes with three kick return touchdowns, returning one for 98 yards against Anderson, 87 yards against Mars Hill, and 95 yards vs. Catawba.Â
