Men's Basketball hangs on for eighth straight win

HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball team won its eighth straight game on Saturday night, defeating a pesky Emory & Henry squad 95-67.

Bears had five players in double digits with Conrad Luczynski leading the way with 19 points. Luczynski added 13 rebounds and five blocks on the night.

STORY OF THE GAME:
  • The game saw seven ties seven lead changes in the first half as the Wasps led for 15:52 in that opening half.
  • A late Bear run in the first half gave the Bears a 46-41 lead at the break.
  • 37 of the 41 first half points from the Wasps came from the duo of Jackson Crawford and Korbin Dixon. 
  • Bears hit 12 of 13 free throws in the opening half.
  • A Tyler Burraston three pointer with 7:59 left give the Bears their biggest lead of the game at 79-64.
  • The Wasps made a late push and cut the lead to four in the final minute, but free throws by Sam Martin and Akili Evans iced the game. 
STATS OF THE GAME:
  • The Bears balanced scoring continued tonight as five players were in double digits, led by 19 from Conrad Luczynski. 
  • LR doubled up the Wasps in the paint with 42-20 advantage.
  • Luczynski had his fourth double-double of the season with 13 rebounds to go along with his 19 points. 
  • Akili Evans and Blessin Kimble combined for a perfect 13-13 from the free throw line.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne out rebounded the Wasps 48-29, including 20 offensive rebounds. 
  • Crawford lead the Wasps with 29 points on 8-16 shooting. 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Bears are now 6-0 all-time against the Wasps. 
  • The win is the Bears ninth straight home win. 
  • Luczynski has 16 blocks in his last four games. 
  • The 34 made free throws was five off the program record set in 1998. 
UP NEXT: Lenoir-Rhyne will have a week off before their trip to UVA-Wise next Saturday. The Cavaliers moved to 8-1 on the season with a 91-85 over Newberry earlier tonight. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
