HICKORY, N.C. - Alexis Brown has been named the SAC Outdoor Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the conference coaches. 

The junior from Mableton, Georgia, cemented herself as the fastest woman in DII history with record breaking performances at the national championships in Pueblo, Colorado, this year. Her 10.93 in the 100 final broke her own NCAA DII record and made her the first woman in DII history to go under 11 seconds. At the time it was the second fastest time in the world. In the 200 Brown ran a blistering 22.35 in her prelim, demolishing the old record of 22.62 held by two-time 100m hurdle world champion Danielle Williams. In the final, which took place about an hour following the 100 final, Brown ran a wind-aided 22.37 to win by nearly half a second over the rest of the field. She also anchored the 4x100m team to a seventh place finish to give her 20.5 points at the meet, making her the high point track scorer.

In total Brown won eight national championships in her DII career and holds the indoor 200 and outdoor 100 and 200 records. She is a 14-time All-American and closed out her junior year by winning every single outdoor 100 and 200 she competed in. The also won the USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor National Women's Track Athlete of the Year awards.
