Tye Roberson named NC Football News D2 Special Teams Player of the Year

HICKORY, N.C. - Tye Roberson has picked up yet another accolade to add to his ever growing list of accomplishments. The return specialist from Laurens, S.C., has been named the NC Football News Special Teams Player of the Year.

One of the most effective return men in all of NCAA Football, Roberson finished with a 41.9 kickoff return average and three return touchdowns. The kick return average led NCAA DII and set a new school record. All three returns were long, going for 98 yards against Anderson, 95 against Catawba, and 87 against Mars Hill. He was named a First-Team All-American by the AFCA, Don Hansen Football Committee, and Associated Press.

Also earning recognition were defensive back Desmond Greene, and punter Stewart Simmons, who were each named to the All-North Carolina First Team.
