HICKORY, N.C. - Shermon Davis and Daniel Deneen Jr. both earned SAC Athlete of the Week honors for their performances in a 50-24 win at UVA Wise on Saturday. 

Shermon Davis won SAC Offensive Player of the Week thanks to an incredible 14 carry, 243 yard rushing performance that included a touchdown and five rushes over 20+ yards. He opened the fourth quarter with a 13 yard reception and immediately followed that up with a 63-yard rush. Davis' 243 rushing yards are the most for a Bear since 2017, the most in the SAC and the sixth most in NCAA Division II this year. Amongst the 16 240+ yard rushing performances across all NCAA divisions this year, Davis is the only one to accomplish the feat in under 15 rush attempts.

Daniel Deneen Jr. did it all for the Bears on a rainy Saturday, earning himself SAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The senior was 3-for-3 on PATs, 2-for-2 on field goals, had five kickoffs for an average of 64.6 yards per kick and four touchbacks, and one punt for 57 yards. Deneen Jr. has been key for the Bears this season, going 5-for-7 on field goals with a long of 47, and posting a season average of 41.8 yards per punt, the 27th best mark in NCAA Division II. His 74 yard punt against West Alabama is tied for seventh best in NCAA Division II this year.
