Biography
Event: Mid-distance freestyle
Freshman (2017-2018): Went a personal best time in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.46), 200-yard freestyle (1:44.73), 500-yard freestyle (4:45.65), and the 1000-yard freestyle (9:56.25). Was a member of the record-breaking 800-yard freestyle relay. Most Improved Swimmer Award.
Junior (2019-2020): Winner of the Rufus L. Moretz Scholar Athlete Award for 2019-2020 . . . Former president of Theta Xi Fraternity . . .member of the BLA and SAAC . . .Math Lab tutor . . . President’s list every semester.
High School: Attended South Caldwell HS. Lettered in swimming, football and tennis. Was a two-time MVP in swimming. Earned Most Improved and All-Conference honors. Was a state qualifier.
Personal: Samuel is from Granite Falls, North Carolina. Born June 18, 1999, to Sam and Heather Murphy.
