Biography

Senior (2020-21): Played in four games for hte Bears and finished with 17 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks to go with four QB hits and a blocked kick.

Junior (2019): Was named Second Team All-Conference and finished third on the squad with 11.5 tackles and eight tackles for loss . . . had 60 total tackles with 29 being solo stops . . . added six QB hurries and a fumble recovery . . . had one sack in each of the first two NCAA Playoff games and had a two sack game against Limestone.

Sophomore (2018): Played in all 14 games . . . finished with 44 total tackles, including 21 solo . . . added 10 tackles for loss, totaling 44 yards lost . . . had 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery . . . had six total tackles and three tackles for loss in a win over UNC Pembroke and had a pair of sacks in a win at Wingate. 

Freshman (2017):  Played in 10 games for the Bears. Recorded 26 tackles, including 12 solo and 14 assisted.

High School: Attended Hillcrest High School. Lettered in both football and wrestling. His junior year he recorded 107 tackles, seven sacks, two PBU’s, two FF’s and two FR’s. His senior year he put up 97 tackles, 12.5 sacks, two FF, two PBU’s and one blocked punt. Was a two-time All-Region and All-Upstate honoree. Earned all-state, north/south all-star and team MVP accolades.

Personal: Amari is from Simpsonville, South Carolina. Born February 14, 1999, to Omar Houston and Faydra Pyies.
