Bob Bodine

Bob Bodine is entering his second year as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach for the Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team in 2019 and his first season brought record-breaking success.

In his first year, the Bears offense ranked No. 9 in the nation in points per game averaging 41 points per contest and the 574 points scored by LR broke a program record. The Bears ranked No. 10 in the nation in rushing yards per game and topped and topped 50 points in a game on four different occasions. LR ranked among the best in the league in sacks allowed, giving up just 19 sacks in 14 games. The Bears owned a 12-game winning streak and went a perfect 7-0 at home and 7-0 in South Atlantic Conference play.

A lot of LR's success had to do with Bodine's offensive line that produced the league's Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner in sophomore Jason Poe. On top of being named the best offensive lineman in the league, Poe earned 1st Team All-Region and was named to the Don Hansen Second Team All-American squad. Offensive tackle Ronnie Clifton was named a Second Team Academic All-American and also earned the SAC Elite 20 award given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in the sport across all conference players.

Bodine has had an extremely successful stint as either Offensive Coordinator or Offensive Line Coach or both at the following schools:  Georgia Southern (2017), Army West Point (2015-16), The Citadel (2011-14) and Virginia Military Institute (2006-10).

At Army, Bodine spearheaded a Black Knights’ rushing attack which ranked second in the nation (327.8 ypg) and helped the United States Military Academy defeat Navy for the first time in 14 years.  The 2014 Army squad ranked fifth in the nation in rushing offense (296.5 yards per game).

Bodine’s previous stints as an assistant coach also includes Bethune-Cookman (Fla.) in 2005, Jackson State (Miss.) in 2003 and 2004 and Georgia Southern for seven years as Slot-Backs, Long Snapper, Outside Linebackers, Defensive Line and Wide Receivers Coach (1997-03).

Bodine graduated from Tulane in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1993 and started his coaching career as an offensive graduate assistant for the Green Wave.

Bodine and his wife, Joy, are the parents of twins: Gabriel (Jake) and Gracie.

WHAT LR HEAD COACH DREW CRONIC SAYS:
"We are extremely fortunate to have Bob Bodine join our staff as Offensive Coordinator.  I have known him for a long time and he is an outstanding teacher and motivator with an impressive background in college football.  He will bring toughness and physicality to our offense while also being creative and innovative."
