Colby Hunter begins his second season on the Lenoir-Rhyne coaching staff as the quarterback’s coach. He joined the Bears offensive staff during the abbreviated season in the spring. During this time, Grayson Willingham was able to set a career-high in passing yards with 353 in the SAC Championship against Tusculum.
Prior to his arrival at LR, Hunter was a QB and offensive operations coach from 2020-2021 at College of Sequoias in Visalia, CA.
Before moving to the Juco position, Colby coached high school football for 10 years, starting his career in 2009 at Central high school in Fresno, CA. He spent majority of his HS time at San Joaquin Memorial as the offensive Coordinator/QB coach. In his time as the Offensive Coordinator, SJM was able to break numerous records offensively and competed for a state championship in multiple years. In 2018 San Joaquin Memorial went on to win the section championship and Northern California Regional before heading to the state championships.
In 2004, the Clovis, CA native moved to Southern California to continue playing football at Citrus College before beginning his coaching career.
His wife Danika Hunter joins him here in Hickory, NC as well as their son who will soon be arriving this season
