Jarrett Boykin enters his first season as the Assistant Football Coach / Wide Receivers Coach at Lenoir-Rhyne after serving as the WR coach at Texas A&M Commerce since March 2023.Â
Prior to his time with the Lions, he coached the receivers at Murray St. He previously worked at Wingate for a year and as a quality control coach at Charlotte.Â
As a player, Boykin spent four seasons with Virginia Tech from 2008-11. During his time with the Hokies, he played in 54 games and recorded 184 catches for 2884 yards and 18 touchdowns. After going undrafted in the 2012 draft, Boykin spent five years in the NFL and two in the CFL. Most of his NFL career was as a member of the Green Bay Packers. After singing with the Jacksonville Jaguars shortly after the draft he signed with the Packers, staying with them for three seasons. Boykins played in 39 games in Green Bay with 57 receptions on 101 targets for 731 yards and three touchdowns. Boykins also started in eight games for the Packers. 2013, Boykin’s second with the Packers, was by far his best NFL season. He played in all 16 games for the Packers, starting eight of them. Boykin caught 49 passes for 681 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers went 8-7-1 that year, a season in which Aaron Rodgers was limited to nine games due to injury. Boykin finished third on the team in receiving yards behind Jordy Nelson and James Jones.Â
Boykin stepped into coaching in 2019 after ending his playing career following his two-year stint and the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders.
