Michael DeStephens is beginning his second year as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team in 2018. DeStephens will again assist the Special Teams this season and will also help out with the athletic department’s marketing efforts.
DeStephens, a 2017 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne, was a three-time First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree (2014-16) as a punter and earned All-Super Region 2 and NCAA Division II All-American honors (CCA) as a senior last fall.
DeStephens ranked third in the nation in punting in 2016 – averaging 44.2 yards per kick – and was named Lenoir-Rhyne's Special Teams Player of the Year last fall.
DeStephens, the 2015 Unsung Hero Award recipient as well, was part of two South Atlantic Conference Championships and NCAA Division II Playoff squads (2013-14) and the national runner-up team in 2013.
DeStephens earned his bachelor’s degree in business management this past May.
