Biography

RS-Senior (2019): Despite playing in just seven games due to injury, Dugger was impactful enough to win the Cliff Harris Award which is given to the best defensive player in NCAA Division II . . . Dugger was also named a D2Football.com First Team All-American while the AFCA and D2CCA awarded him Second Team All-American honors . . . Dugger also earned First Team All-Conference and All-Region accolades . . . On October 7, Dugger was named National Special Teams Player of the Week after he returned two punts for touchdowns against UVA-Wise and became the only player in LR history to have two games with two punt returns for touchdowns . . . In that game, Dugger became the all-time leader in punt return yardage with 929 . . . on the first defensive series of the season, Dugger had a 30-yard pick-six, which was one of two interceptions on the day . . . Dugger's 164 career interception return yards ranks seventh in team history. 

RS-Junior (2018): Was named First Team All-South Atlantic Conference at both defensive back and return specialist . . . as a returner, was also named Second Team All-Region and Don Hanson Honorable Mention All-American . . . won National Special Teams Player of the Week award when he became the first player in LR history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game . . .  Against Newberry, Dugger returned punts of 69 and 64 yards to the house to key a 31-14 LR victory . . . Dugger broke the program record and finished second in the nation with 534 punt return yards and also finished second in the nation with his two TD returns . . . On defense, Dugger played in all 14 games and registered 76 total tackles and a career-high three interceptions . . . Dugger also forced a pair of fumbles and recovered three fumbles to go with one tackle for loss . . . Dugger recorded his first career rushing attempt and gained five yards. 

RS-Sophomore (2017): Preseason First-Team All-SAC selection. Played in 10 games for the Bears. Recorded 87 tackles, including 57 solo and 30 assisted, for the season. Returned a total of 20 punts for 197 yards, good enough for 9.9 yards per return and one TD. Named to the Second Team All-Conference at the conclusion of the season. 

RS-Sophomore (2016): Medical redshirt. Played in one game for the Bears before sitting out the rest of the season due to injury.

RS-Freshman (2015): Appeared and started 10 games for the Bears. Posted 43 total tackles, 28 solo and 15 assisted tackles. Led the team with six PBU’s, four INT’s and two FR’s for 45 yards. Named South Atlantic Conference Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Freshman (2014): Redshirt.

High School: Attended Whitewater High School. Lettered two years in both football and basketball. Recorded 80 tackles, three INT’s and five PBU’s. Earned First-Team All-County and All-County Honorable Mention honors in basketball.

Personal: Kyle is from Fayetteville, Georgia. Born March 22, 1996, to James and Kimberly Dugger.
