Sousa enters his first season with the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field teams.
Sousa a former standout decathlete at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater held the school record for javelin with a throw of 58.36m. He was named an All-American in 2014 and 2015 finishing 5th and 6th in the decathlon and heptathlon at NCAA Outdoor and Indoor National Championships.
He started his coaching career at Queens University of Charlotte as an assistant coach for sprints, jumps,hurdles, and multis.
Sousa then took a job at William Peace University as the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field and helped start their track and field program. Under his tutelage, William Peace University help set 26 school records.
Recently Sousa coached at Wingate University and helped coach the 2020 Wingate Male Athlete of the Year along with South Atlantic Conference Championship team.
Sousa is certified USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification and also a USFTCCCA Strength and Conditioning Certification.
Sousa received a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in May of 2017.
