Harley Mason

Harley Mason was named Head Coach of Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Men's and Women's Triathlon programs on July 11, 2022. In her four seasons at the helm, she has led the Bears to three national championships (2022, 2023, 2025) and a runner-up finish in 2024. Mason has won four consecutive CTCA National Coach of the Year awards, taking home that honor from 2022-25.

In just four seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne, Mason has solidified the Bears as a national power. She has coached 24 All-Americans, 25 Scholar All-Americans, and led the program to four consecutive USA Triathlon Scholar All-American Team Awards. Under her leadership, the program produced multiple national and regional honorees, including two individual national champions (Sabrina Fleig '23, Zoila Sicilia '25), and two All-Region Freshman of the Year (Eliska Rihova '22, Zoila Sicila '23).

Mason came to LR after over a decade of coaching experience across various competitive levels. Before arriving at LR, she founded and coached the triathlon program at Newberry College. Her background includes serving as head cross country and track and field coach at both Falcon High School (Colorado) and Mendocino High School (California), as well as youth coaching with 1900 Triathlon, where she launched a developmental division.

From 2019 to 2020, Mason worked for USA Triathlon as the Coaching Education Manager, developing national coaching clinics, manuals, and continuing education curricula. Her efforts helped set the standard for triathlon coaching certification across the U.S.

Mason holds a Master of Science in Sports Science & Health and is extensively certified, including:

  • USA Triathlon Level II

  • USA Weightlifting Level I

  • USA Swimming 201

  • USA Track and Field Level I

  • USA Cycling Level III

She also spent over two years coaching with Pikes Peak Athletics and competed as an elite triathlete before transitioning to coaching full-time.

A native of Fort Collins, Colorado, Mason is a graduate of Adams State University, where she competed as a collegiate athlete before building a career as a coach, educator, and leader in the sport of triathlon.
