    Volunteer Assistant Coach
Cassandra Kerrigan, a native of Sarasota, Fla., has been announced as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Team for the 2018 season. Kerrigan will move from playing on the pitch as a graduate student, to coaching on it alongside head mentor Gary Higgins.

Kerrigan suited up as a Midfielder and wore the number 13, serving as a team captain her final season in the cardinal and black. She played for the Bears from 2013-2017, as she was part of three teams that were crowned South Atlantic Conference Champions in 2013, 2014 and 2016. In 2014 she led the team to a Regional Championship title and an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. In her final season she was crowned as a Player of the Year.

As a volunteer on the sideline, Kerrigan will coordinate pregame meals, be responsible for students in the work study program, coordinate the team’s community service projects and will be responsible for a variety of practice duties including: warm-up, cool down and technical exercises. She also will coordinate recruiting visits and ID camps, as well as organize Team Impact on behalf of the Bears.

She formerly was the head club soccer coach for the U-12 Eagles team and also served as a coach for the “Bears Soccer Academy” for three years. She currently is a candidate for a Masters in Business Administration and is taking on the roll of a Graduate Assistant in the Rudsill Library on campus. There she supervises student workers and fixes online library resources.

She formerly was a student teacher for a Kindergarten class at South Newton Elementary School where she thoroughly designed and implemented lesson plans for all subjects.
