Hickory, N.C. ? The Newberry College Volleyball Team (14-9, 4-4) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University (14-9, 2-6), 3-0, in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.? Newberry won by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-20.

Newberry was led by Kember Lichtie (Amarillo, Texas) with a team-high nine kills while Blair Browning (New Lexington, Ohio) added 34 assists and Brianna Blakely (Houston, Texas) finished with 18 digs in the win.

For Lenoir-Rhyne, senior outside hitter Kassi Henry (Denver, N.C.) led the way with nine kills and freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) dished out 26 assists.? Senior libero Elizabeth Flattery (Sparta, N.C.) added 11 digs for the Bears despite the setback.

Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Lander on Tuesday night beginning at 7 p.m., while Newberry faces SAC-foe Brevard in Newberry, S.C., on Tuesday at 7 p.m., as well.
