Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (15-9) swept Lander University (12-8), 3-0, Tuesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium in a non-league affair. The Bears defeated the Bearcats by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-10.
L-R was led by sophomore middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) with a match-high 11 kills while sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Cantu (Orlando, Fla.) added nine kills and 15 digs in the victory. Freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) dished out 31 assists for the Bears, who held a 11-3 advantage in blocks for the evening.
Lander was paced by Melissa McCracken’s (Washington, Ill) nine kills and Chelsey Corgan’s (Deland, Fla.) 20 digs despite the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home on Friday when it hosts Brevard in a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 7 p.m.
