Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Holds On To Defeat Mars Hill College, 3-2

Mars Hill, N.C. -? The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (14-7, 2-4) won a thrilling South Atlantic Conference match over Mars Hill College (8-8, 1-6), 3-2, by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 15-25, 24-26 and 15-7 Tuesday night?at Stanford Arena.

Sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Cantu (Orlando, Fla.) led the way as she posted a double-double for Lenoir-Rhyne with a team-high 19 kills and 19 digs while senior outside hitter Kassi Henry (Denver, N.C.) recorded 12 kills in the victory.

Freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added 38 assists and 18 digs while sophomore libero Marrissa Church (Statesville, N.C.) tallied a career-high 34 digs as the Bears snapped a five-match losing streak.

Laura Ann Huskey (West Henderson, N.C.) recorded a double-double for Mars Hill with 21 kills and 19 digs while Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) and Traci Teague (Ramseur, N.C.) had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, despite the setback.

In addition, Mars Hill totaled 16 service errors compared to only three for Lenoir-Rhyne.

Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Tusculum in a South Atlantic Conference contest on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
