Newberry, S.C. ? The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (19-14, 5-11) finished up the 2009 regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Newberry College (18-14, 7-9) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at Eleazer Arena.? The Bears won by scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 26-24.

L-R was led by sophomore outside Lindsey Cantu?s (Orlando, Fla.) match-high 14 kills and 17 digs while freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added 34 assists and 11 digs as Lenoir-Rhyne avenged an earlier home loss to Newberry.

Newberry?s Kember Litchie (Amarillo, Texas) led the Scarlet and Gray with 11 kills while Blair Browning (New Lexington, Ohio) finished with 28 assists in the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne next competes in the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament beginning on Friday in Greeneville, Tenn.? Tusculum College will serve as the host institution.
