No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Holds Off Queens, 72-61, For Sixth Straight Victory

Charlotte, N.C. ? The No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne University Women?s Basketball Team (6-1) made it six in a row with a 72-61 win over Queens (1-6) Tuesday evening at Ovens Athletic Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Four players scored in double figures for Lenoir-Rhyne led by senior center Denise Moore?s (Newport News, Va.) 15 points.? Moore also added a team-high nine rebounds while senior guards Amber Holt (Charlotte, N.C.) and Brittany Mitch (McLean, Va.) finished with 14 points each for the Bears, who limited the Royals to just 37 percent shooting (23-of-62) for the contest.

Queens? Marissa Hudley (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, both game-highs, despite the setback.

Lenoir-Rhyne raced to a 49-30 lead, its biggest of the game, on a lay-up by Mitch with 15:37?remaining in the second half.?

However, Queens began to close the gap and eventually cut the margin to 67-61 on a pair of free throws by Hudley with 47 seconds left but Mitch answered with two free throws of her own and L-R held on for the win.

Dyonna Battle (Rocky Mount, N.C.) added 12 points for Queens, who also shot just 17 percent (two-for-12) from the three-point line in the setback.

Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Misenheimer, N.C., to face Pfeiffer on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.
