Kicks 103.3 WKVS-FM To Once Again Serve As Lenoir-Rhyne's Athletic Broadcast Partner For 2009-10

Hickory, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Neill McGeachy has announced Kicks 103.3 WKVS-FM (Lenoir, N.C.) will return as the University’s Athletic Broadcast Partner for 2009-10.

Kicks 103.3 WKVS-FM signed on with the Bears in the summer of 2008.

The station will broadcast all 11 of Lenoir-Rhyne’s Football games this year in addition to all of the Bears’ South Atlantic Conference Regular Season and Tournament contests in men’s and women’s basketball.

Davy Crockett will once again serve as the play-by-play man while Jack Huss returns as the color analyst and Ju Ju Phillips is back as the sideline reporter.

Kicks 103.3 WKVS-FM is part of the Foothills Radio Group which includes The Bluegrass Station 1080 AM and News Talk WJRI 1340-AM. The station covers all or portions of Caldwell, Catawba, Burke, Lincoln, Watauga, McDowell, Avery and Alexander Counties and is celebrating its 16th year on the air.

Crockett, who is currently the Program Director at the Foothills Radio Group, has been in broadcasting for the past 20 years and has covered such teams as Western Carolina University and the Asheville Altitude of the NBDL League. Crockett has also covered high school sports in Caldwell, Burke and Catawba Counties.

Huss is a former Lenoir-Rhyne player (1965-68), Head Coach (1974-79) and Sports Hall Of Fame inductee (1996) and has been on the Bears’ broadcast team since 2003.

Phillips was the Bears’ color analyst in 2002 and has been on the sidelines reporting for the past six seasons.  Phillips was a four-year football letterwinner for L-R from 1979 to 1982 and has covered area sports for over 20 years.

Lenoir-Rhyne’s 2009 football opener will take place on Saturday, August 29, when it hosts Shorter College beginning at 7:00 p.m., with the pregame show beginning at six.  The games will also be streamed online at www.lrbears.com, the official website of Lenoir-Rhyne Athletics.
