The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (5-0) remained perfect on the year with a pair of wins over UNC Pembroke (3-1) and Pfeiffer (3-0) Saturday on the final day of the Moretz Sports Invitational at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.? The Bears are now off to their best start since 1987, when?they started the campaign 6-0.

L-R defeated UNC Pembroke (1-2) by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 18-25 and 25-19 and was led by senior outside hitter Jordan Ledford (Newton, N.C.) with 16 kills and freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) with 44 assists.? Both players graduated from Fred T. Foard High School.

In the victory over Pfeiffer (25-11, 25-22 and 25-22), sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Cantu (Orlando, Fla.) finished with a double-double (12 kills and 13 assists) while Ledford added 10 kills.? The Falcons fell to 2-2 on the year.

Lenoir-Rhyne next plays in the Francis Marion Tournament on Friday and Saturday, in Florence, S.C., and will first face Francis Marion on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
