Banner Elk, N.C. ? The Lees-McRae College Volleyball Team (9-3) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University (13-3), 3-1, Tuesday night at Williams Gymnasium.? The Lady Bobcats defeated the Bears by scores of 18-25, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-11.
For Lenoir-Rhyne, freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) tallied 30 assists while sophomore middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) added a team-high 10 kills in the losing effort.? Freshman outside hitter Katelin Wensley (Advance, N.C.) and sophomore libero Marrissa Church (Statesville, N.C.) each finished with 13 digs for the Bears as well.
Lees-McRae, who rallied from a 1-0 deficit to win the final three games of the match, was led by Megan Epperson (St. John?s, Ind.) with 17 kills and Megan Mitchell (Minden, Nev.) with 45 assists.
The Lady Bobcats also held a 55-35 advantage in kills and a 12-4 advantage in total blocks in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Salisbury, N.C., to face Catawba on Friday beginning at 7 p.m., in a South Atlantic Conference match.
