Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Falls To Wingate Saturday In Three Sets To End Road Trip

Wingate, N.C. ? The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (13-5, 1-2) fell to Wingate (16-1, 5-0) on Saturday in three sets as it lost by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-13 in a South Atlantic Conference match.? The Bears have not played at home since hosting the Moretz Volleyball Invitational on August 28-29.

L-R was led by freshman middle blocker Cheyenne Cash (Shelby, N.C.) with nine kills and a .467 hitting percentage.

Freshman outside hitter Katelin Wensley (Advance, N.C.) added six kills and four digs for the Bears while freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) had 16 assists.

Finally, sophomore libero Marrissa Church (Statesville, N.C.) led L-R defensively with a match-high 15 digs in the losing effort.

Junior outside hitter Lauren Billo led Wingate with 12 kills and a .545 hitting percentage while junior blocker Stormi Gale (Richmond, Texas) added 11 kills and six digs.?

Wingate had 53 kills against only 11 errors in the match.? The Bears, however, had 29 kills against 13 errors.

L-R finally returns home next Friday to host league-foe Carson-Newman in Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.? Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
