The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (9-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a pair of wins over Charleston (3-1) and UNC Pembroke (3-1) Saturday on the final day of the Francis Marion Invitational in Florence, S.C.? The Bears are still off to their best start in school history.
Against Charleston (18-25, 25-16, 25-21 and 25-23), L-R was led by freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) with 39 assists while sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Cantu (Orlando, Fla.) finished with a team-high 16 kills and senior outside hitter Kassi Henry (Denver, N.C.) added nine kills and did not make an error.
In the win over UNC Pembroke (25-21, 24-26, 26-24, 25-18), sophomore libero Marrissa Church (Statesville, N.C.) tallied a team-high 21 digs while Henry added 12 kills and Lutz finished with 37 assists.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens South Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday when it faces Brevard in Brevard, N.C., at 7 p.m.
