Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Downs Brevard, 78-67

Brevard, N.C. ? The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women?s Basketball Team (10-3, 3-0) remained undefeated in South Atlantic Conference action with a 78-67 victory over Brevard College (5-6, 0-3) Wednesday evening at Boshamer Gymnasium.

L-R sophomore guard Cameron Sealey (Gastonia, N.C.) led all scorers with 18 points, including 11 in the second half, while senior center Denise Moore (Newport News, Va.) added 16 points on eight-of-10 shooting en route to the win.

Brevard?s Samantha Winn (Candler, N.C.) and Brianna Worley (Asheville, N.C.) each scored 15 points in the setback for the Tornados.

Lenoir-Rhyne raced to a 30-9 lead with 5:31 remaining in the first half on a field goal by Moore before the Bears entered the break with a 39-23 advantage.

Brevard would cut the lead to 46-38 just over six minutes into the second half on a field goal by Anna Schlobohm (Greensboro, N.C.) but that?s as close as the Tornados would get.

L-R immediately responded with six consecutive points to take back control of the contest and would push the lead to as many as 21 (74-53 with 3:46 remaining) late in the contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior guard Brittany Mitch (McLean, Va.) added 11 points and six assists in the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road this Saturday when it faces Newberry in Newberry, S.C., at 2 p.m.
