Bristol, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (9-11) stepped out of conference play to pick up a road sweep of King College (Tenn.) (18-5), 3-0, Tuesday evening at the Student Center.? The Bears won by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20.
Sophomore outside hitter Katelin Wensley (Advance, N.C.) led the Bears with a team-high nine kills while freshman setter Kaitlyn Burton (Mills River, N.C.) added 29 assists and 12 digs for the double-double.
Junior outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Mooresville, N.C.) also tallied seven kills for the Bears, who snapped a two-match losing streak in the process.
King was led by Ashley Pittman's (Norris, Tenn.) 11 kills and Morgan Machen's (Kingsport, Tenn.) 10 kills in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Lees-McRae in another non-league contest Friday at 7 p.m.?? King plays at Montreat on Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
