Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Rallies To Defeat Carson-Newman, 3-2

Jefferson City, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (7-7, 4-5) came back from a two-set deficit to defeat Carson-Newman College (11-4, 5-4), 3-2, Saturday afternoon at the Holt Fieldhouse in a South Atlantic Conference match.? The Bears prevailed by scores of 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-15 and 15-11.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by freshman setter Kaitlyn Burton (Mills River, N.C.), who finished with 12 kills and 37 assists while freshman middle blocker Kayla Morrow (China Grove, N.C.) added 11 kills for the Bears in the win.

Sophomore outside hitter Cayla Crawley (Bryson City, N.C.) chipped in with nine kills and 17 digs for L-R, who picked up its first conference victory on the road this season.

Carson-Newman was led by Carly Mozgai (Greensboro, N.C.), who finished with a match-high 23 kills while Carly Swisher (Fort Collins, Colo.) added 13 kills despite the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne stays on the road next Friday when it travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill College in a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 7 p.m.

Carson-Newman does not play again until Tuesday, October 12, when it takes on Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tenn., in a league contest at 6:30 p.m.
