Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Rolls To A 76-45 Win Over Coker Friday

Mars Hill, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball Team (2-1) picked up its second?victory of the year Friday night with a 76-45 win over Coker College (0-3) at the 2010 Biltmore Farms/Mars Hill Classic at Stanford Arena.

L-R freshman forward Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) finished with a game-high 20 points while freshman guard Krystal Patton (Chilhowie, Va.) and junior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) added 14 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Bears.

Lenoir-Rhyne held a 50-33 advantage in rebounds and forced 32 turnovers in the contest.

After L-R started the contest with a 6-0 lead, Coker was able to cut the margin to one on three different occasions but could never go ahead.

The Bears used a 12-2 run over five-plus minutes of the first half en route to a 37-25 advantage at the break.

Lenoir-Rhyne took full control out of the gate to start the second half.? A 20-2 run covering the first 7:42 after intermission pushed the Bears' advantage to 30 (57-27 with 12:18 left) and included six points from Brinkley.

Coker, who would get no closer than 26 points the rest of the way, was led by Nikki Grigsby's (Las Vegas, Nev.) nine points.

Brinkley also added seven rebounds and three steals and hit eight-of-12 field goal attempts while Patton tallied five rebounds and four steals.

Lenoir-Rhyne faces Converse Saturday on the final day of the tournament Saturday at 3 p.m.
