Queens 68, Lenoir-Rhyne 51
The Royals' Reggie Hopkins (Gastonia, N.C.) finished with 18 points and eight assists as Queens slowly pulled away in the second half to down the Bears for their first win of the year.
Queens held a 27-24 advantage at halftime but gradually increased its lead after break thanks to 54-percent (13-of-24) shooting performance in the second half.?
An 8-0 Queens run late in the second half pushed the Royals' advantage to 60-46 on a free throw by Hopkins with 3:35 left and the lead was never threatened again.
Daniel Bailey (Irmo, S.C.) added 13 points and Brent Evans (Beaufort, S.C.) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Royals as well.
Junior forward Jeff Thomas (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and sophomore guard Alex Watkins (Charlotte, N.C.) scored in double figures for Lenoir-Rhyne (1-2), finishing with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
However, Lenoir-Rhyne connected on just 32 percent (18-of-56) of its shots and hit just one of 17 three-point attempts.
Limestone 78, Wingate 64
The Saints' Jarrell Douglass (Leesburg, Fla.) came off the bench to score a game-high 26 points to lead Limestone to its first victory of the 2010-11 campaign.
Stewart Clark (Atlanta, Ga.) added 18 points for Limestone, who shot 55 percent (27-of-49) for the game.
Paidrick Matilus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) led Wingate (1-2) with 18 points in the losing effort.
With the score tied at 32 just two minutes into the second half, Limestone put together an 11-1 run to push its advantage to 43-33 and would lead by as many as 19 points en route to the victory.
