Mars Hill, N.C. ? The Mars Hill College Men?s Basketball Team (15-12, 10-6) ended Lenoir-Rhyne University?s (7-19, 5-11) season with an 80-62 victory on Senior Day at Stanford Arena.
The Lions? Danny Sanders (Shelby, N.C.) led all scorers with 22 points while Dion Malachi (Shelby, N.C.) added a double-double (18 points and 10 rebounds) as Mars Hill completed the season sweep of L-R.
Junior forward D.J. Blackmon (Albemarle, N.C.) finished with a team-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds and freshman guard Kameko Walls (Winston-Salem, N.C. ) also scored in double digits as he finished with 11 points despite the loss for L-R.
L-R stayed closed in the first half but Mars Hill eventually pulled ahead and led 41-34 at the break.? The Lions then put the contest away with an 8-0 run to start the second half to make it 49-34 and led by as many as 20 points en route to the win.
Stoney Polite (Morganton, N.C.) and Dallas Johnson (Auburndale, Fla.) each score 14 points for the Lions, who connected on 88 percent (23-of-26) of their free throws in the win.
