Greeneville, Tenn. - The Tusculum College Women's Basketball Team (11-6, 7-2) remained alone atop the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 50-49 win over Lenoir-Rhyne University (8-9, 5-4) Wednesday night at Pioneer Arena.

Trailing 49-48, the Pioneers' Jasmine Parker (Rex, Ga.) hit a pair of free throws with 2.3 seconds remaining in the game to lift Tusculum to the win.

A desperation three-point attempt after a length-of-the-court pass fell short for Lenoir-Rhyne.

Catherine Hintz (Hastings, Minn.) came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points for the Pioneers, who ran their winning streak to five games.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) led all scorers with 17 points while freshman forward Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) added eight points and a game-high?10 rebounds in the losing effort.

Tusculum forged ahead to a 28-17 halftime lead before Lenoir-Rhyne came back to take a 40-35 advantage on a three-pointer by Sealey with 8:29 left in regulation.

The Pioneers responded with a 13-1 run over the next six-plus minutes of action capped off by a lay-up from Gunn for a 48-41 lead at the 2:11 mark of the second half.

L-R answered with eight straight points, including six by Sealey, to take back the lead at 49-48 but three missed free throws by the Bears in the final 25 seconds kept the Pioneers' chances alive.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to take on Mars Hill Saturday in a conference game beginning at 4 p.m.? Tusculum, meanwhile, hosts league-rival Newberry Saturday at 2 p.m.
