Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Upsets Lincoln Memorial, 3-1

Junior setter Meredith Lutz finished with 46 assists and 13 digs in Lenoir-Rhyne's 3-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (11-7, 3-4) defeated Lincoln Memorial (11-3, 7-2), 3-1, in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday afternoon at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.? The Bears downed the Lady Railsplitters by scores of 25-9, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-13 and snapped Lincoln Memorial's seven-match winning streak.

L-R senior outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Mooresville, N.C.) finished with a match-high 15 kills and 14 digs while junior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added 46 assists and 13 digs as the Bears snapped a two-match losing streak.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) totaled 12 kills and freshman libero Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) tallied 21 digs to lead the Bears to the win.

Lincoln Memorial, who entered the match in sole possession of second place in the South Atlantic Conference, was led by Blaire Fowler's (Fort Worth, Texas) 15 kills.

Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) finished with 22 assists and Chelsea Ferron (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) and Kristen Cantrell (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) added 11 digs each for the Lady Railsplitters in the losing effort.

As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne finished with a .307 hitting percentage and totaled 13 service aces including five by junior return specialist Cayla Crawley (Bryson City, N.C.).

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to take on Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference match Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m.? Lincoln Memorial faces Kentucky State at home?on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
