Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps Newberry, 3-0, On The Road

Freshman outside hitter Whitney Brinkley finished with eight kills and seven digs in Lenoir-Rhyne's 3-0 South Atlantic Conference sweep of Newberry Saturday afternoon in Newberry, S.C.

Newberry, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (14-9, 6-6) swept Newberry College (11-11, 4-8), 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at Eleazer Arena.? The Bears won by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16.

L-R sophomore middle blocker Kayla Morrow (China Grove, N.C.) led the way with a match-high nine kills while junior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added 16 assists and nine digs as the Bears won their third consecutive match.

Freshman outside hitter Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) finished with eight kills and seven digs and freshman defensive specialist Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) tallied a match-high 19 digs for Lenoir-Rhyne, who swept the season series from Newberry.

Newberry's Madison Shultz (Decatur, Ind.) finished with a team-high eight kills while Blair Browning (New Lexington, Ohio) added 14 assists despite the loss.

Samantha Parrish (Angola, Ind.) chipped in with seven kills and seven digs for the Wolves, who saw their two-match winning streak snapped.

Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference match on Tuesday at 7 p.m.? Newberry plays at conference-foe Lincoln Memorial next Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
